Sunday Scrolls: February 7th

By Kaylea

Hello, kind friend! How was your week? Jon was gone for seven days for work and just got home this weekend. We’ve been soaking up all the family time before it’s back to work mañana. He has this trip every year, and it’s such a nice reset, in a way. You come back feeling SO thankful for all of the little things the other one does to help make life run smoothly, and all the ways they infuse joy into the mundane. Happy to have the triangle back together, and to share all of our awesome finds with you today. The Make It was gone in less than 48 hours (and since I told you it was just me and the little man, you know it took only 2 to devour it ?):

Make It.

This recipe turned out WAY better than expected. We set out to make something relatively easy, with ingredients that we already had in our pantry. But then add in the vegan/ gluten free twist, PLUS the fact that I wanted it to be heart-healthy for Heart Awareness month…it sounds like too many boxes to check, but we did it, and they are the most delectable mix of savory and sweet!

Perfect for packing in the lunch box, or the most delicious afternoon snack!

No-bake, GF and Vegan Heart Lovers Cereal Bars
  • 6 cups of Cheerios (we used the chocolate kind). Pro tip: If you’re using an “off-brand” (which I love to do to save!) it may not be gluten free. Just a heads up in case you have an intolerance.
  • 1 cup of peanut butter. Nutzo is outstanding and has so many healthy add-ins. Regular peanut butter, or any alternative will work great!
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips. (Melt PB and chocolate together, then stir into cereal).
  • Optional marshmallows mixed in after you combine the chocolate/ pb mix and cereal.
  • Drizzle of agave nectar, honey, or syrup at the end as a binding agent.
  • We tamp it down, sprinkle with sea salt, and refrigerate or freeze for 30 minutes. These keep well in the freezer!

Read It.

This beautiful novel is one that you can share with your sister, your Grandma; any generation in your life. It isn’t tied to an age, but rather a feeling. It covers so many life events we have all been through, and an incredible lesson at the end we all need to hear. Before I had even finished the last chapter, I had amazon’ed a copy to my goddaughter. The writing is so fluid, you feel like you’re hearing a story snuggled on the sofa with your best friend. Firefly Lane is 9/10 ⭐️

Watch/ Listen to It.

With Jon being gone for work this week, I saved our shows to watch so he didn’t miss them. Instead, Grey and I spent our nights taking walks to watch the sun set, and I stayed up late searching for fresh inspiration and reading some pretty spectacular new books. (See below for the most try-it’s we’ve shared yet!). I stumbled upon this motivational mash-up and I couldn’t wait to share it with you. If you need a few great nuggets to start your week, I know you will find them here ??.

Jay Shetty hit me in the feels when he said, “We live in a society clouded by noise.” I have felt that on many levels this week. Looking forward to making space for silence, introspection, and extra gratitude in the days ahead.

Feel It.

Small wins this week: Banging out some exciting new content coming to NixonPack.com, making time to organize our closets and cut through some of the clutter, and surviving as a single parent for a full week. All of you single moms and dads are the true heroes, let me tell you ??‍♂️??‍♀️. PS – when you shared your small wins last week it brought me such JOY! Please consider sharing. I love rooting you on!

Try It.

Are you a stomach, back, or side sleeper? Sleeping on your left side has SO many health benefits!!

We got a few messages about friends looking for mirrors. I LOVE the selection at Overstock. We recently did a hallway of mirrors and chose three different ones by the same creator so it would have a cohesive vibe, but still stand out. Do you like this one, this brass beauty, or round the best?

Friendship breakups are so complex. I’ve been through a few that still sting. You too?

Not only did I feel this very strongly this week, but I know a lot of friends did as well. Have you hit your pandemic wall? Here’s how to cope.

This was great. Do you say sorry all the time? Advice from a therapist to stop over-apologizing.

I have been exercising my green(ish) thumb quite a bit lately hoping to reap all of these wonderful rewards ?.

Do you need a new game to add into the mix for family game night? We have been loving Outfoxed!

If you read our book of the week, I’m curious what you think about the casting for this. Will you watch? ((I don’t think I can do it. I don’t want to ruin the picture in my mind))

We’ve been having non-stop volcanic eruptions in our house. This is the kit and when I tell you we’ve used it 63 times this week, that’s probably on the low end ?.

For friends thinking about shifting to interior design: 5 Myths to Becoming an Interior Designer.

I continue to be wow’ed by the additions to H&M Home. This duvet set is dreamy, and affordable! And this would look perfect on your shelfie – the more light reflection, the merrier!

Do you have tingly hands and feet? Me too. Here’s the vitamin deficiency that could be causing it, and what to eat to fix it.

Yes to all of these inspiring quotes. One to pin for a day you need them the most!

I added in a few new vegan creators to my following on the ‘gram and have been loving this innovator, and this one too!

You are a bright ray of sunshine in the middle of a snowstorm. A vibrant flower growing in the middle of the desert. THANK YOU for spending time with us today! Enjoy the Big Game if you're watching ? I'll be there for the snacks!
