Sunday Scrolls: December 4th

You’re here! I am so excited to see you today. Sunday Scrolls, for me, is a lot like the recipe I’m sharing inside. It’s designed to be a nourishing, warm hug that makes you feel something (hopefully well + joyful, since that’s what we’re all about here). We also have a new idea to grab a friend and get moving, a mindset shift for the week ahead, and some fun finds to click through. Happy SunYAY, kind friend:

Meals

We surprised Grey with a cozy stay-up-late Christmas movie night this weekend, and I was looking for simple ways to make it special. I make a homemade superfood hot cocoa with cacao, functional mushrooms, and coconut milk. But with Home Alone 2 on the marquee, it felt like we needed a little extra treat. These peppermint drops took ten minutes start to finish and made it feel so festive!

  • 1 bag of Lily’s White Chocolate Peppermint Chips ((no sugar added woohoo!))
  • Dandie’s Vegan Marshmallows
  • Drizzle of Lily’s Cinnamon Chocolate Chips melted on top
  • Melt your white chocolate with a teaspoon of coconut oil for 1 minute and stir well. Use a spatula to smooth the melty mixture on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Drop on your mini mallows, then pop in the freezer for a few minutes while you’re melting the cinnamon chips. Then drizzle the cinnamon chocolate on top, and place it back in the freezer for a few more minutes to firm up. Take it out before it becomes fully hardened and use your favorite cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes. We rolled the edges of the cutouts into little chocolate bombs to freeze and use for next time!

Movement

Feel like your exercise routine needs a shake up? Hear me out on this one. A 2022 report from the Sports & Fitness Industry Association called pickleball the fastest growing sport in America, with 4.8 million players nationwide (a near 40 percent increase from 2020).

And when a friend of mine suggested we give it a go, I never imagined I’d love it as much as I do. We now have a standing date each week, and I try to recruit everyone I know to play doubles with us. It is fantastic exercise, a fun hour with friends, and you’re getting a ton of great movement in without giving it too much thought (I average about 500 calories a session). Need a clincher to head to the court? A new study found that people who play racquet sports live 16% longer than those who don’t.

Here are the paddles I use– and wouldn’t this make an awesome holiday gift for a friend?! Don’t forget to click the 15% coupon!

Mindset

I wouldn’t ask you to do this if I didn’t *know* it would add value to your day. Please take five minutes to listen to this 🙏🏼. I played it every morning and every night when we were doing our teeth brushing routine and it made a world of difference for us this week. All is WELL.

Which one are you stuck on today? I love this one ➡️ “If your goal is to have a healthier mind, start by removing all the junk from your diet.”

I know we still have a few weeks left, but this was my FAVORITE BOOK OF THE YEAR!

I also read this book this week and can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

I just re-ordered this vegan protein for the fourth time. She’s a little pricey, but the cleanest on the market, and delicious!

Have you heard of the psychobiotic diet? It’s designed to fend off stress.

This makes me so happy: free all-terrain wheelchairs arrive at state parks!

And if you’re in the market for new hiking boots, these are a fantastic deal and so cushy on my feet. No blisters, waterproof, and it has the vibram sole for stability!

The most interesting podcast I listened to this week.

Don’t forget sunscreen (yes, even on dreary days!). This one has heaps of benefits on top of sun (+wrinkle) protection.

I spotted this in the store this week and grabbed it for Grey. It is even cuter in person and would make a fun gift!

This look was absolutely dreamy. What did you think?

Food for thought, would you stop to check on a crying stranger?

Sundays are such a perfect day to take stock of what you’re grateful for; And I’m a big believer that when you look for the good, you see more of it. Today I’m grateful for our toothless cowboy, getting to celebrate my better half this week, and for the return of Sunday Scrolls. My have I missed you 💙.
