I love the spiritual significance of autumn: representing the harvest, it’s a time to reflect on all of the work we’ve been putting in physically, spiritually, emotionally, and celebrating the blessings we’ve achieved as a result. It’s the perfect time to assess accomplishments instead of shortcomings, and savor the slow season. Here are a few practices to weave into your days as we transition out of summer in the most well and joyful way:
If you have a few minutes, grab a notebook and a pen and jot down whatever comes to mind. It can be as simple as stream of consciousness first thoughts flowing, or maybe a bullet point list of action items. Whatever feels best to you.
How much time am I spending consuming vs. creating?
What types of connection am I missing? How can I weave them into my life?
How can I better fuel my vessel and prepare for the “sick season”?
Am I a fountain or a drain for those around me? How can I be more of a fountain for myself and others?
What parts of my day bring me peace or pain? How can I strive for more peace?
Look at those parts that bring pain, or unnecessary discomfort. What purpose are they serving? Oftentimes we stay in routines that are no longer serving us out of habit, or the simple fact that we haven’t taken the time to consider and alter them. Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Prioritize eating clean, nourishing foods, moving your body in a way that you look forward to, not dread, connect with other fountains, and slow down enough to savor every moment of this cozy season. A delicious book and hot mug of tea is just what your wellness counselor ordered ℞. Be well and joyful, kind friend!
