There’s an article in the More section today that asks if we’re living on autopilot. It was funny I stumbled upon it because that concept has been on my mind a lot lately. When we get into a routine for so long, it feels like weeks blur into months, then years, and whoosh, where did it all go? With spring coming, it’s such a perfect time to re-evaluate goals, check-in with yourself and your people on all of the big picture life stuff you’re working toward, and make sure you’re making progress in the direction you want to go. And then, just for fun, shake things up a bit. I hope today’s Scrolls inspires you to do just that: try a new recipe, find the motivation you need to take the next first step, and perhaps that step is outside your comfort zone just enough to find big JOY! I’m so glad you’re here:

When Jon and I started dating, his mom gifted me a Better Homes & Gardens Annual Recipes cookbook. Little did she know back then, she started a tradition that is now such a treasure in my home and heart. Fast forward to this week and I just received the 19th (!!) cookbook to add to our collection. She has sent the Annual Recipes book to me every single year we’ve been together. What a gift!! It’s categorized by month, so here’s what we’re whipping up for March!

I’m a longtime follower of Dr. Mark Hyman and a big fan of all of the research he has done in the Blue Zones (where residents live to be 100+!), helping us learn to live more health-full lives free of pain and disease. I just ordered his new book Young Forever and there are SO many easy, insightful, life-altering protocols we can add to our daily routines to age well!

4 Quick Stretches to Do If You’ve Been Sitting in the Car for Hours.
Someone told me The Grand Canyon “isn’t worth it”, and I learned such a big lesson from this. Because the morning we were supposed to go, the battery died on our car remote and the car wouldn’t start and our travel day was set back by several hours, and I almost, almost said, let’s skip it and head straight for Sedona. But it’s one of the Seven Wonders!! We were too close not to see it. And when I tell you it was “worth it”, my goodness was it ever. I cried. And cried again because no pictures, videos, words could ever capture it like your own eyeballs can, and on top of all that, I got to experience it with my people.
So my aha was this. Sure. Your discipline around your lifestyle choices, or the value system you espouse, or how you live day to day may not be “worth it” to some people. But how could we let someone else’s ethos guide our path? Surely all of our “worth it’s” are different, just as we are. And only you get to decide 💙
