Thank you for being here with us and supporting these businesses!
Making.
Sharing a recipe from one of my favorite follows on the ‘gram today – I can’t wait to make this vegan pumpkin mac and cheese for Thanksgiving!
Watching.
If you’ve been here for a while, you know I’m a longtime fan of Simon Sinek. His take on leadership in business, focus on a top down philosophy, and how you treat people in general has always resonated with me. If it’s been a bit since you’ve seen his breakout Ted Talk on Start With Why, I love this quick video on how to find your why. A great watch for anyone feeling like they need a check-in or a refresh with their purpose.
Reading.
If you, or someone you know is thinking about starting their own business, you need to read this classic. There is always a new nugget that jumps out at me, depending on what stage of life/ career I’m in at the moment. A big takeaway that I chase continually is the goal of finding something you are so deeply passionate about that it borderlines on obsession; one of the keys to being a great achiever in your field. If you’ve found that, will you share it in the comments? I love hearing about your passions!
Listening.
Jenna Kutcher’s podcast is a great place to start if you are looking for small business tactics. She hosts experts on topics from social strategies to leadership advice, how to niche down, effective time management skills, and everything in between. I have had this particular episode flagged for a while and have been using and loving some of her habit stacking tools. If you’ve been down her rabbit hole before and are looking for some fresh podcasts to check out, this is a great list to start with!
Feeling.
Trying. ((Fabulous gift ideas from small shops!))
THIS is one of my favorite items of clothing I have ever owned thanks to my friend Kristen at Blue Jean Baby Denim. She can customize and bling out absolutely anything you dream up and is a gem of a human!
Their business name is cracking me up π, but next to a good book, this would be my favorite gift to give (and receive!). They ship everywhere and have incredible plant care tips on their site!
How fantastic would this ceramic travel mug be as a Christmas (or anytime) gift? This is a teacher-owned shop and I love her backstory!
My friend Deanna swears by this lip balm set and I LOVE all of the fun facts about bees that they share. There are so many affordable gift options, they have an informative, buzz-worthy podcast, and a wonderful mission!
When you were a kid, did you scour the shops to find a souvenir or a token with your name on it? Me too. Only, I could never find something with Kaylea π. THIS gift is such a treasure! PS – I included Grey’s meaning here (which is wildly accurate to his personality), but you can search for yours at the top!
The most darling tiny human clothes & toys π.
A Dallas gal pal of mine owns this magical letterpress shop and makes the most luxurious cards I have ever written on. Knowing her backstory and the hurdles she has had to jump this year with rising paper costs and sourcing her vintage press – I am in awe of KJ’s determination to pursue her dream. Receiving a handwritten card is such a treat!
The perfect gift for the explorer in your life! I have never seen push-pin art like this π.
We can make our own cookbooks! Can you imagine how special it would be to put all of your family recipes in one place?!
If you need something shipped via prime speed – there are a ton of small businesses with incredible buys on amazon! The foodie dice make a fun stocking stuffer for all the times no one can decide on dinner. I also LOVE this handmade card to thank a nurse or doctor in your life. And I’ve hit the stage of adulthood where I think punny dish towels are great π .
How sweet is this small family shop? The wood photo is gorgeous.
This crossbody circle bag is on major sale and would make such a fun surprise for a girlfriend. The weekender is also pretty dreamy and I love supporting this small, mama-owned shop!
I’ve followed Maribel on the ‘gram for some time and just found out she sells her own home goods online! I adore this personalized hammer for a housewarming gift, and these engraved bamboo spoons, too!
Oh my goodness would these NovelTeas make such a lovely, thoughtful gift! How can you go wrong with this combo?!
When my Dad died, I saved a bunch of his Pirates and SU t-shirts and would pull them out of the drawer often to get a hint of his smell π. Sadly, that fades over the years, but you can keep the memory in the sweetest way with a handmade t-shirt quilt. What a fantastic way to repurpose them!
Have you seen the Rada Cutlery at the farmer’s market? I still have the set we bought 15 years ago. The quality is outstanding and it’s made in the USA – as are all items on this site πΊπΈ!
Matching Hanukkah shirts for the whole family!
I can’t rave about The Heirloomist enough. Here’s the piece she did for us last year – and the one she did for a good friend of mine π.
The inspiration for today's special Scrolls came from my good friend Deanna Granato. She's the kind of woman who champions other women and would be the first to lend a hand if you needed it. So when she asked if I would want to feature some fresh finds and local businesses on Sunday Scrolls, I thought, let's do a whole day dedicated to it. If there's ever a time when small shops need us more than ever, it's now. I hope you found something you loved and want to support today - and speaking of - would you do me a favor and leave a comment at the end with your favorite small, local business? Bonus points if it's yours! How wonderful would it be to see & support places from all over the country in one place! THANK YOU for being a part of the Pack with us!
