Hello, lovely! After a wonderfully hectic week, we’re piling in the car this morning and heading for a hike that’s been on our list for over a year. We’re also having a one-day cold snap (high 60’s!), which means it’s the perfect day to do it after a month approaching 100. But first: a positively delicious dip you can use on anything, a book I can’t stop raving about, and a bunch of things we tried and loved and can’t wait to share! We’re so glad you came over:
Making.
AVOCADO HUMMUS DIP
This dip is my new favorite. Not only is it wildly healthy for you (good fats, omegas, protein, fiber!), it is super versatile, too. I spread it on toast for a savory breakfast, dip it with tortilla chips, and it’s even better with veggies. I promise it tastes better than it looks. Give it a go!!
Blend together:
- 1 can of chickpeas (rinsed well)
- 1 avocado (or 2 mini containers)
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup tahini
- garlic powder, sea salt, pepper, red pepper flakes to taste
Watching.
All the buzz you’ve heard about Anatomy of a Scandal on Netflix is absolutely worth it. I think you’re with me on that we love a limited series. Especially one that gets right to the meat of it, because the story can’t drag on for several seasons; it only has six episodes to give you the full picture. You might have heard me mention before that I don’t love books/ movies/ shows that center around adultery. But the superb acting, especially from Sienna Miller, made it a fantastic binge-worthy watch.
Reading.
The Dictionary of Lost Words starts slow, but not in an I’m not sure I’ll get through it kind of way. More like that friend we all have who is fairly quiet in a group setting, but when they take the time to speak, it’s with such purpose and meaning. I adored the main character, Esme, her perspective in a room full of men in the early 1900’s, and the elements of historical fiction, woven together so beautifully. She was as interesting as she was heartbreaking. And after reading, you will never look at a dictionary in the same way again. As a word nerd, I felt so grateful to come across this one, and to dissect every meaning they offered to us. What a treasure! 9.2/10 ⭐️
Listening.
This conversation between Dax Shepard and Jay Shetty was uncomfortable in parts, and also wildly interesting. I especially loved the second half of the episode when Dax was talking about how he approaches parenting. I pocketed a few tidbits from the perspective he and Kristen Bell employ with their girls, and think Grey could benefit from. Worth a listen!

A dreamy dress for a sweet summertime date 😍.
This gives me anxiety just thinking about it: “Cluttercore”.
I bought this shirt for Grey for summer and it is even cuter in person 😍. Plus, these matching swim trunks!
We just re-ordered this hair treatment for the third time – the whole family uses it to deep condition after the pool. It is silky, smells incredible, and is fantastic for brittle, sun & wind-blown summer hair.
