Sunday Scrolls: June 27th

We’re nearing the end of June. Here’s your gentle reminder (and mine too!) to savor every second of this summer. It already feels like a steam-roller, doesn’t it? Let’s do all we can to slow it down. Speaking of, my mom flew in for the week and we have been doing just that: playing in the pool, taking long walks around Dallas, and playing board games at night. I hope your weekend is filled with all the joy-jolts; we have some good ones for you if you need some inspo! Let’s start with a sweet & savory hummus recipe (so fresh + easy!), a fantastic binge-worthy series, and loads of fun finds from a fabulous week ??:

Making.

Easy Homemade Hummus Recipe

Don’t have tahini on hand? Try making hummus with your favorite seed or nut butter! I love the creaminess it adds, and it’s extra delicious when you dip ? in it:

  • 1 can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 cup nut/ seed butter
  • Juice of 1 ? + part of the rind for extra flavor
  • bunch of basil
  • 2 T. garlic
  • 2 T. EVOO
  • Salt + Pepper + Red Pepper flakes (or sub the spice for cinnamon if you want a sweeter snack!)?

It takes less than 3 minutes to make and you have a healthy lunch option with ingredients from your pantry ?

PS: Did you know chickpeas are the most environmentally friendly legume? What a superfood ?‍♀️!

Watching.

I kept seeing Manifest on our Netflix watch list, but I had heard it was “sci-fi”, which is a genre that’s not typically my favorite. So we passed. But it popped up again, and again, so we clicked. It is fantastic. Sure, the acting is a little much in parts, but they sucked me in and now I *need* to know what happens. Can you imagine if you came home from a trip one day later but it was really five years later and everyone else had moved on with their lives, but no actual time has passed for you? The ripples it causes and the thoughts it provokes feels riveting, fresh, and makes me so glad we started this series.

Reading.

My mom brought this as her airplane book, and I snagged it the second she finished it. It has so much great buzz around it, and I’m excited to report – it lives up to the hype.

The author’s writing style is a thing of beauty – poetic, lyrical, absolutely lovely. The sentences dance over the page and keep you entranced – so much so, I finished her in half the time it usually takes me. There was a bit of a lull at the end (IMO), where it bobbed and weaved in a different direction, but overall, an absolutely fantastic novel. 9/10 ⭐️

Listening.

Have you read the mantra, “Instead of saying ‘I’m busy’, try saying ‘that isn’t a priority’, and see how it feels”? I saw it several times and each time it gives me such an aha. I feel like with the pandemic, we all shifted our priorities in some way. And now that things are “going back to normal” and our calendars are filling up again, it can feel like you don’t have time for any of it. This podcast was particularly helpful in choosing what to prioritize, and how to maximize what you do decide to make time for:

Feeling.

Trying.

Actionable, effective steps if you’re dealing with burnout. The restorative sleep component is a big one I need to work on!

Speaking of, I snagged the Amazon Halo on Prime Day and am ready to report back after wearing it for the past week. I love the sleep tracker (though it takes a night or two to get used to having a bracelet on your wrist to sleep). It gets so in depth with the data it provides you after a night’s rest: percentage of REM sleep, any disturbances, the time it took to fall asleep, and then it gives you a sleep score. If you’re working on sleeping better – this is the tool for it. I also find it gives a more accurate count of calories burned and steps walked than the Apple Watch. And one more thing I love – the tone check. It has been incredibly insightful to see how many kind things I say each day, versus “stubborn” or “dismissive” moments. 10/10 recommend.

They’re killing me with the generational labels. “They’ve” decided there’s a new one again. Have you heard of a boomenial?! (spoiler: I think it’s me ?)

We’ve been posting daily recipes on instagram, and on youtube to help give you fresh, flavorful ideas to blend up. We would be so grateful if you’d follow us there!

The bubble sleeve is so romantic and the fit is oh so flattering ?.

Have you noticed this beautiful, refreshing, incredibly inspiring new wave of creators gracing our feeds? I have seen the most eclectic, vibrant mix of people showing off their talents in so many ways lately and it feels like a nudge to do you, the way only you can.

This muslin blanket is the only thing on our bed right now and another factor in my attempt for better sleep ?. It is so lightweight, but also cozy and soft – the perfect summer comforter-alternative.

What do you eat in a day videos are so interesting to me. I love when it inspires a recipe idea, or, in this case, I’m daydreaming about a trip to LA for a day for all of their vegan options, and Erewhon!

Helpful hydration facts. Did you know 8 glasses of water a day is a myth?

I’ve never been very good at figuring out which bra to wear with dresses like these. Are you? The quality for the price point is fantastic, and I love the airiness for summer.

Thank you for being here today. For inspiring, motivating, and supporting our little family. We are so grateful to share this space with you!
