Sunday Scrolls: June 11th

I’m so excited to see you here! Today we have a hot tip on a small tweak you can make before a workout to reap even bigger rewards, a lunch-time smoothie recipe, and a something-for-all-of-us round up of inspiration, new information, and fun finds to motivate us in the week ahead:

We’re a family of early risers, and this week we managed to take a sunrise walk every single day. There’s something about seeing the town wake up slowly around you that feels like such a gift. We saw a mama turtle laying eggs, our first Texas-sized tarantula, and hot air balloons in the middle of the dreamiest colored sky. If you find yourself up before the sun this week, you won’t regret a sunrise stroll (and Dr. Huberman says it helps our sleep quality, mood, and overall health!).

Meals

I’ve been trying a bunch of glucose-stabilizing hacks in the past few months in an effort to find more energetic balance, improved digestion, and better gut health. One of the big ahas has been starting the day with a savory breakfast burrito loaded with veggies and high quality vegan protein; and moving our breakfast smoothie to a mid-morning or lunch smoothie instead. This one has:

  • 1 large zucchini
  • 2 cups of frozen riced cauliflower
  • ripe avocado
  • 1 t. triphala
  • 1 T. inulin
  • 2 scoops Truvani vegan protein
  • 2-3 cups of almond milk

Movement

I’ve been implementing this new study before my workouts for the past two weeks and have noticed a big difference in how hard I can push (and the pre-cool doesn’t hurt now that it’s 100 degrees in Texas 😅). Tap the arrows for the how and the why:

And if you have your kids home for the summer, here’s what “balance” and making time for both looked like for us last week. If I’m honest, I don’t really love a playground. Once in a while yes, but daily summertime visits can get old. Instead of sitting on a bench, or just going through the motions, I got involved and played and encouraged challenges through movement and we have been having so much FUN!
