Happy Sunday, fellow Scroller! We are thrilled to see you today. It’s a big day for the Nixon Pack – we’re launching our smoothie shop at the Dallas Farmer’s Market! We’ve been making smoothies each morning for as long as I can remember, and more recently, have turned to them as a way to reach our whole-family wellness goals. We are so excited to share them with friends near and far! In the meantime – we reviewed a star-studded movie, whipped up a delicious appetizer for you to try, have a book that you’ll stay up late to finish (so good!!) and a game-changing podcast that will give you all the tools to channel the present moment in the week ahead:

Making.

Vegan Black Bean Dip

Ready for a quick snack or easy appetizer? This spicy black bean dip takes less than 2 minutes to throw together and it’s delicious (and so good for you!) ?

  • ?Blend together a can of black beans (I used the spicy kind from @wholefoods but if you can’t find those, use regular & add a jalapeño if you love the heat!)
  • ?1 heaping tablespoon of garlic
  • ?juice of 1 lime
  • ?swirl of EVOO
  • ?1 heaping tablespoon of cashew queso
  • ?all the spice you like! Serve with tortilla chips, or for bonus points, pit the seeds out of the mini peppers and serve ?. IMO, they are way more satisfying than chips.

Reading.

The premise of this book was a little out there. But oh my darling was it a great one. The storytelling was so vivid, the pacing so natural; I fell into a rhythm entranced by it, and when I read the final page, the clock said 12:30am ?. That almost never happens to me (habitually asleep by 9pm at the latest). Don’t let the first few chapters have you thinking it’s a sci-fi, I promise you it isn’t. This is one you can share with you best gal, your co-worker, your niece – I think everyone can find something to relate to inside these pages. A beautiful read. 9.4/10 ⭐️

Watching.

We had been on such a series-kick that it felt like a nice change to watch a movie in (almost) one sitting. It popped up in the trending suggestions and when we saw how star-studded the lineup looked, it was a no-brainer. That being said, it wasn’t anything ground-breaking, but there were so many actors I enjoy watching (Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts). If you’re looking for something just to be able to decompress, not have to think too much, and relax on the couch, go for it. But if you’re hoping for a classic, this falls (incredibly) short. Most times when they “jump the shark” and stuff too many big names/ characters in – the plot and character development suffers, as was the case with this one. Sad, I had high hopes!

Listening.

Whenever someone tells me they’re doing the work – looking to make big life changes – focusing on their personal development, I always ask if they’ve read anything by Eckhart Tolle. You’ve heard me mention him here a time or two, but his message bears repeating. Specifically about staying in the present moment. I have been quite guilty of future-tripping lately. Especially as we grow our smoothie business, and dream up where we want to be and what we hope to build. To daydream about the future is both a blessing and a curse, isn’t it? Sometimes you get so far ahead, you lose the present moment. This podcast grounded me in a major way this week and I know it will do the same for you. It was chock full of inspiration and motivation. Start right around this time marker??for a juicy gem:

Feeling.

Trying.

At my annual skincare appointment my derm asked if I was re-applying sunscreen on my face throughout the day ?. I didn’t know you had to do that. I put this on religiously every morning, but apparently you are supposed to blot it over your makeup every 2 hours (even while indoors!). Did you know??

I love looking at homes…especially in other parts of the world. This London “iceberg house” is magnificent.

A scrumptious (and sneaky!) superfood smoothie that took over the top spot in our house as Grey + Jon’s favorite. No one had any idea there was cauliflower in it!

Do you know your face shape? I think mine is round, but I’m not entirely sure. In any event, once we figure it out: best sunglasses based on your face shape ?. I just saw these on amazon and love the look!

This is a little pricey, but now that I’ve used a whole bottle and reordered – well worth it. It has helped SO much with acne flair-ups from the humidity, a rash Grey got from the water park ?, mosquito bites…the list goes on.

Our lovely neighbors just came back from vacation – renting out a home complete with chef, housekeeper, and butler ??. They rented it with another family for a week and their stories sounded so special (and fabulous!). Apparently, it’s a new travel trend. Who would you want to rent a home with, and where would you go?!

Speaking of – this was so interesting: Vrbo’s 2021 Travel Trends.

This would make a fun housewarming gift, or a gift for yourself if you need a drawer refresh. Look at all the pretty colors it comes in!

A great list for joy-seekers!

This was unexpected – the food you need to be eating more of in your 40’s and 50’s – from a hormone expert.

Have the most magnificent rest of your Sunday, and a delicious start to your week! We are so thankful you stopped by. You truly made our day!
