We’re so glad you’re here. We have been busy sourcing every fun find we could get our hands on to help you feel inspired, motivated, and excited for the week ahead. I’m sharing one of my Top 5 book club picks of all time, a ridiculously addictive treat to share this season, and the most extensive Try It list we’ve come up with yet!
Make It.
This is a mega-hit in our family. I have made it more times than I can count and it is so easy to put together that I have a feeling it will be your go-to this holiday season. We have put it in a treat tin and left it at neighbors’ doorsteps, brought it to get-togethers, and devoured it just the three of us. They call it Christmas Crack for a reason…you can’t stop once you start. (Also because it’s made of crackers I’d imagine ?).
That homemade caramel sauce gets me every time! Here’s the recipe:
- A sleeve of any kind of crackers. We use Saltines, but it can be Ritz or whatever you have on hand. Graham crackers work too! We line a baking sheet with parchment paper, add nonstick spray, then place them in tidy rows to fit the sheet.
- Put one cup of butter plus one cup of brown sugar on medium heat in a pot to bubble. Stay with it and keep stirring for 3(ish) minutes.
- Pour caramel sauce over crackers.
- Place in 350 degree oven for 3 minutes.
- Remove the pan and sprinkle 1 cup of chocolate chips over the crackers. Put back in the oven for 2 minutes.
- Use a spatula to smooth the melted chocolate over the crackers. I’m not meticulous about this part. It doesn’t have to be perfect. In fact, imperfect spreading makes it look even better!
- Sprinkle whatever candy you have on hand over the top. This could be candy cane pieces, leftover Halloween candy diced up, or red and green m&m’s.
- Put it in the freezer to set, or leave it there until you want to make goodie bags for friends!
Read It.
We know that it takes 21 consecutive days to form a habit. If we start TODAY, we will have whatever habit we’re trying to put into place before the New Year. So what is it you want to become better at? For me it’s responding instead of reacting. Becoming so in tune with myself that I anticipate what triggers me and blow it away like a dandelion puff before I allow it to consume me. I don’t want to raise my voice at my people, or react in a snarky way when I feel wronged. I also don’t want to race to the kitchen for a treat when I’m feeling stressed. Being present and allowing myself to respond, rather than react. This book is incredibly powerful and makes my Top 5 Recommendations of all time. That’s a big one. No matter what habit you’re trying to change or improve – you need this. 10/10 ⭐️
Watch It.
Jon and I both loved this one! I don’t know what it is about the holidays, but we have watched more romantic comedies in the past few weeks than we have, ever. Also, this isn’t a Christmas movie, but it’s a cute one with nothing particularly polarizing, pretty decent acting, and a sweet ending. Plus, her coat game is on point ?.
Listen To It.
This performance blew. me. away. Jennifer Nettles is more of a powerhouse than I gave her credit for! Idina brings all of her incredible talents to this one, but lets Jennifer shine in the most beautiful way. I put it in the Listen category, but if you can watch too, the little drummer boy brought it to the next level. I cried (as I often do when tiny humans perform). Tell me what you loved best in the comments below, please!!
Feel It.
Try It.
This podcast was my favorite in quite some time. It had so many golden nuggets woven in to the 30 minute allotment and I had aha moment after aha moment with the way the experts viewed mental health.
The unexpected photo that will help sell your house.
Deciding if I want to make this a Christmas gift for Grey or surprise him with it early. We love this series!
You may not know this but, I am a tortilla chip aficionada. Should I put that in my bio? ?. These are the best I have tried. I found them at Walmart but I’m sure they carry them at your local grocer!
We acknowledge this all the time in our house but I didn’t know it had a name until now: The Invisible Workload.
A delicious slideshow of Christmas charcuterie boards ?. And if you’re inspired to put a cute spin on your own, how great is this option? Or this little dreamboat made by a Grandpa!
They look, er, bright (!), but how do we think these will taste?
I hope this boot trend is one that sticks around for a while. I love them with dresses, leggings, jeans – they look great with everything and are way more comfortable than their heeled counterparts!
How to set boundaries if you’re hosting family for the holidays. Especially the part about setting expectations and speaking your needs. You can’t fault people for something you weren’t clear about. I need to remember that!
Do you like to sleep in a cold room, or a hot one? I love the room cold, but the bed warm. This has been absolutely magical. But be careful! It’s hard to bound out of bed in the morning when you’re toasty under the covers!
Did you see our Pack Picks for holiday gifts? It sounds like a lot of our readers are Team Jon on the brisket and Team Kaylea for the robe!
The Christmas Tree of my dreams ??. Have you seen this one?!
Thank you for sweetening our Sunday! We always feel so thankful reading your kind notes and life updates. We hope you have a beautiful start to your week! We're off to celebrate my favorite human's birthday. He is the hardest working person I know, and has a heart as big as his work ethic. We're so lucky he's ours. Happy Birthday, Jon!
Love the boots! But, then again, I do have a bit of a boot problem! Lol! Thanks for sharing all the fun suggestions ?
Shoot…that must be where I got it from ?. Thanks for reading, mom! And for sharing each week!!
Loved Jennifer Nettles singing “Little Drummer Boy”, she can harmonize with anyone! The acrobatic group was great! Idina Menzel controlled her volume very nicely.
Hi Sharon!! YES, she really can! Thank you for taking time to leave us a note. You’re the best!
