This was the kind of week that filled my cup all the way to the top, and I shall spend the rest of the day saying thank you. I feel so grateful for those sweet faces and all of the new experiences we had this week. From kayaking the Chicago River, meeting up with our best friends (whom we hadn’t seen in person in nearly two years), and watching our kiddos play together for the first time – it was everything. How about you? What was your highlight of the week? Please share with us in the comments! But first – Sunday Scrolls, and the best finds we can’t wait to tell you about!
Make It.
Does dairy give you stomach pains, too? We’ve been buying the Chloe’s Oat Milk ice creams all summer long, and while totally scrumptious, there is something extra tasty about making your own. This recipe is fudgetastic – and even better when you go off the page a bit and mix in raspberry puree ?. PS – check our facebook page this week for a delicious way to use up your blueberries. It won’t disappoint!
Read It.
You might notice the Watch It suggestion is missing today. As we were rounding up all of our favorites from the week, I realized pretty quickly that we did a whole lot of walking, visiting, board-gaming, adventuring, and reading…and the television never turned on. No complaints in that department. Instead, I’ve got two book suggestions for you, both in totally opposite genres.
Do you remember a few weeks back when we recommended, okay maybe insisted, that you watch this series? Shortly after you press play, you’re introduced to Phil Jackson, the head coach of the Bulls, and I was instantly drawn to him. There was something about his presence that let you know he was different. And suddenly, I felt myself needing to know everything about him: his leadership style, the art in which he approached people at their level, the creative ways he helped his team reach their highest potential. Whether or not you’re a basketball fan doesn’t really matter – this is a book about everything mentioned above, and more. If you’re a student of leadership; if you want to study the intricacies of motivation and inspiration, you will love it. 9/10!
If you’re more in the mood for a beach read – Meg Mitchell Moore has you covered. Jon picked this one up for me during his trip to Costco this week (if you’re the Grocery Hero in your family, big kudos to you!), and it was such an enveloping read, I finished it in about a day or so. While it wasn’t the deepest read I’ve taken on, sometimes you need a break from the heavy stuff and to get lost in some fake drama. It gets an 8/10 from me!
Feel It.
If you’ve been feeling the weight of the world lately; sending kids back to school or not, missing family, worrying for business owners, I could go on and on, but we all have something, don’t we? The point is – this week, let’s make a promise, or at least a real effort, to focus on the things we can control. Did you see the 5 Ways to Boost Your EQ? I’ve been really working toward that lately and have started to see a shift. I know you will too. At the very least if we do everything in the quote above, we’re winning, and so is everyone else around us.
Try It.
Proper hydration is proven to boost immunity. And we could all use more of that, amIright? Here are some ways to make it easier.
Do you have a recurring thought that everyone is mad at you? This will help.
I remember seeing the fruits of this experiment one summer in California with my Dad. If you’re not ready to head back to the stylist, this natural lightener is worth a try. Just make sure to deep condition with a hair mask afterwards!
Looking for activities to do with your littles designed to crown you “The World’s Greatest Parent”?! Here you go!
Grey’s most loved books from the past week – both get a 10/10 from the entire #NixonPack.
Thank you for spending part of your Sunday with us. You are like the surprise bouquet of flowers from the above-mentioned Grocery Hero ??♂️. You're the shimmer from the skyline on a kayak trip through the city. A warm embrace with a good friend. Choosing a tie to go blueberry picking because you're just that special. And a vegan chocolate fudge pop on a warm summer day. Have the most wonderful rest of your day ?
