Sunday Scrolls: April 16th

Do you prefer a savory or a sweet breakfast? I’d gladly tuck into a pile of pancakes, but today we’re sharing the reasons a savory start might be better for your blood sugar throughout the day. Plus a new movement we can all squeeze in (amazing for hip health!), thoughtful insights to motivate and inspire, and a stack of fun finds before we give you a hug and send you onward to enjoy your beautiful day. We’re so glad you’re here!

Meals

The more I deep-dive into glucose hacks (to stop repeated glucose spikes that inevitably cause disease), I’m learning how important a savory breakfast is, instead of sweet. This looks like a dish worthy of a five-star hotel, and I’m attempting to whip it up for Sunday brunch. If mushrooms aren’t your jam, you could do any kind of filling you love! I’m adding arugula microgreens and leftover veggies from family pizza night (spinach, peppers, onions, and zucchini). Plus, for my fellow vegans – this is high protein – hooray!

Movement

Stay with me on this one. It feels incredible as a hip-opener, energizer, and is a move many of us can do. It has SO many mental and physical benefits that far outweigh the cringe you’ll feel the first time you try it. Push through, I promise it’s worth it! (movement starts at the 1 min mark)

Mindset

So many truth bombs this week! The third one really got me. I called my best friend a few months ago about an idea Jon and I had been mulling over for a while. She said, “You’re looking for validation, but inside, you already have the answer, you just have to trust it!”, and she was so right.

This thread was one of the most impactful things I read this week: What is one important lesson for life that isn’t taught in school, but that you want to teach to your kids? (the answers were beautifully thought-provoking!)

I am loving the raffia sandal trend for spring + summer. These are so chic and are actually comfortable to walk in!

Is the 3:6 Rule the Secret to Making Friends as an Adult?

I read this thriller this week and really enjoyed it. Not too “scary” πŸ˜… to read before bed, but gripping and a different spin than the books I’ve read of late.

Have you heard of a career shower? What a fun concept!

How To Help Your Kids Eat Healthily (Without Being An Almond Mom)

My most worn pants lately (a lovely amount of stretch and super comfortable!). I am 5’6 and have them in standard – if you want a slightly cropped look, they hit in just the right spot. They don’t wrinkle and can be dressed up or down beautifully!

Who doesn’t love Jennifer Coolidge?!

How to Stop Romanticizing the Past So You Can Enjoy Your Life Right Now

Your phone is ruining your vacation (preach!).

And on that note, how toΒ clean your luggageΒ after a trip. (Shoot. I have never thought to do this πŸ˜…)

How to spring clean your finances.

This sparks joy, and is grandma goals for me someday!

This week was heavy on social commitments: Grey’s school carnival, volunteering, birthday parties, basketball games. The connection well is full, but the energy well is a bit depleted ((fellow introverts, I know you know the feeling πŸ˜†)). I’m looking forward to a day with my people, getting my hands dirty with some gardening, and a restorative walk in the sunshine. What are you doing for you today? Take care of yourself this week, kind friend! Thank you for spending a sliver of Sunday with us πŸ’™.
