Start with a Smoothie

If you’re looking for one swap you can make to take a step toward overall well-being, I always suggest starting with a daily smoothie. Here’s why, and the easiest (tastiest!) smoothie recipe to try first:

You are what you (drink!)

Blending a daily smoothie for our family has become one of my most satisfying moments of the day. There is nothing like the feeling of knowing you’re adding a ton of the vitamins and minerals needed to keep everyone healthy, strong, vibrant, and joyful. Plus, it tastes like a treat, and not at all like the medicine it really is.

When you curate your ingredients mindfully, smoothies can be an anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, disease-fighting powerhouse! Not to mention, a phenomenal source of fiber, protein, and a delicious way to sneak in a ton of fruits + veggies.

Whatever your wellness goals, ailments, mood, or craving – I have a smoothie for you. But let’s start with the basics, and then we can build from there.

Blueberry Brain Boost

Blueberry Brain Boost

This smoothie is one of our family go-to’s and the taste is next-level good. It’s bright, layered with flavor, the most lush texture, and bursting with all the good stuff: antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, brain-boosters, and loaded with that coveted fiber/fat/protein combo to keep you feeling full for longer.

Here’s what you need (makes 2 smoothies):

  • 1 cup frozen wild organic blueberries (we buy ours from Costco)
  • 1/2 cup frozen riced organic cauliflower (freezer section of Costco or any grocer)
  • 1/2 cup organic cashew yogurt, or your low-sugar yogurt of choice
  • 1 cup organic oat milk (or vegan milk of choice)
  • 1 t. organic maca – we buy this on subscribe & save. ((health benefits here))
  • 1 t. organic inulin – we buy this one. ((health benefits here))
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vietnamese cinnamon
  • option for additional protein: 1 scoop vegan organic vanilla protein (we love this brand!, and this one as well)
  • swirl of maple syrup to give it just a hint of sweetness, it’s low on the glycemic index so it won’t spike your blood sugar like other sugar products do.

Blend twice and enjoy! Cool tip: Take your time and sip slowly. Imagine all of these ingredients on a plate and how long it should take you to consume them all. This will help aid digestion and allow your body to process all of these beautiful nutrients.

Lastly, I saw your eyes bulge a little with the cauliflower – I promise, if our six year old doesn’t taste it, neither will you 😍. You’re going to love this one. Be well + joyful today!
