Sunday Scrolls: December 12th

I had to call 911 yesterday. It was terrifying, and also, one of the most eye-opening experiences we’ve had in some time. Jon had an incident with the hedge trimmer, walked calmly into the kitchen with his Nixon Pack sweatshirt as a tourniquet and said “I think I cut my fingers off, please call 911”. He was so deadpan that I thought it was a joke, but as I watched the color draining from his face, I started dialing. The emergency crews were here in 3 minutes, and I will be forever grateful for a hundred things; including how the hospital was able to put him back together, our proximity to emergency services, and the kindest of people who dedicate their life to these moments. A sharp reminder to us to be grateful for each moment, and everyone in it 💙. With that, I give you a Scrolls filled with inspiration for your week, a healing (delicious!) smoothie recipe, and the best series we’ve watched all year!

Making.

Watching.

We would be at the most random places: t-ball practice, the grocery store, a friend’s house, and everyone would ask, did you see the latest episode of Yellowstone? Almost reminiscent of when Game of Thrones was at peak popularity and you were odd man out if you weren’t up on it. But for whatever reason we still didn’t saddle up and watch it. Fast forward to a lull in our usual lineup and now. we. are. hooked. This series has the most tremendous acting, impeccable writing, and the characters suck you in at first glance (hello, Kevin Costner!). I cannot believe we waited this long (and somehow managed to evade any spoilers). If you have been waiting like we were, I promise it is so much more than you might be expecting. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

Already watched it? Here are 26 New Releases coming out in the next two weeks.

Reading.

The Untethered Soul is heavy (content, not page-wise), but one of the most impactful books I have ever read. I brought it on vacation, expecting I’d have it finished by the time we landed in Costa Rica. Wrong 😆. Reason one being, I was traveling with a tiny human. And reason two is that it is absolutely bursting with the most wonderful nuggets of wisdom. I found myself dissecting each sentence, highlighting paragraphs, and jotting down thoughts to explore. This is one to purchase as a gift to yourself, and revisit in different seasons of your life, or when you feel stuck, and searching for more. 10/10 ⭐️ (PS – if it takes you weeks, or even a month to read it, don’t be discouraged. Me too. It’s worth it)

Listening.

I have shared Impact Theory before, but this particular podcast episode was (in my opinion) his best of the year. It is clips from 7 experts giving their most research-backed, impactful health advice of all time. It is an hour well spent if you want to gain some incredible insights into how to make significant (free!) changes toward your wellness goals in 2022.

Feeling.

Trying.

Have you heard of the Grey Rock Method? It’s new to me, too. Worth a try in the event of dealing with toxic people.

Jon maintains this has been his favorite gift in years. So much so, he hasn’t fired up our regular grill since. In case you need a last minute gift – it still has 2-day shipping!

Which Aunt are you?

The cheapest place to retire abroad. Sign me up!

This organic dish scrubber set would make the loveliest hostess gift paired with these gorgeous Turkish towels, or some aesthetic dispensers. You would win best guest award hands-down!

Foods that make you anxious 😩.

The wrapping paper we’re using this Christmas is from GiftyWrap – look at these unique designs! We love supporting a small shop – and the fact that she sources prints from local artists.

4-ingredient anti-inflammatory dessert recipes 🤩.

Tips for “boomerang employees”.

New research identifies the 7 factors that deem a person to be “wise”. I’m still working on #3!

I adore the detailing on this sweater 😍. And it would look great with these !

My friend Emily shared this about dealing with grief triggers during the holidays. So helpful 💙.

Interesting – how to rekindle friendships after years apart.

Make it an extraordinary day today. You deserve it. You making time for us each Sunday is thoughtful, generous, and the warm hug that kicks off a wonderful week. I feel so thankful to know you 🙏🏼.
