Sunday Scrolls: August 16th

Sunday Scrolls has become almost like a therapy session for me. This week felt particularly heavy in Chicago. And in the process of putting this together, I am reminded of all the good around us, and inside of us, and I feel so thankful to be here with you. PS – the links at the end are extra fabulous this week!

Make It.

I live for a great Horchata. All that cinnamon sugary goodness is such a treat to order when we’re out; whether at a local coffee shop, or spiked on a date night. But did you know it can take up to 12 hours to make?! Not this one. And bonus, it’s vegan!

Watch It.

Like everyone else on the planet, I am aware of, curious about, and in awe of Mr. Warren Buffet. But I wasn’t expecting to be enamored with him. He had me at the McDonald’s drive-thru when he explained that he has his daily breakfast calculated to the very penny, and days when he’s “not feeling so prosperous” because the market is down, he chooses the cheapest option at $2.61. If you haven’t seen this documentary yet, I highly recommend. It’s on HBO, but you can also stream it here.

Read It.

If you were swept up in the Eat Pray Love movement, I think you’re really going to like this one. And aren’t we all feeling like we’re in this moment of panic, re-evaluation, and transformation?

Feel It.

The bad habits can be as small as the food you’re consuming, or as big as a destructive thought pattern you’re in. What light chains can you pull off now, so they won’t take you down later?

Try It.

Do you know the feeling when you have so much going on in your head and your best friend finds a way to summarize it perfectly, in a way you didn’t feel capable of doing? That was this article for me.

A tornado touched down in the city of Chicago this week and wreaked havoc in the city. A lot of friends lost power for days and all we lost was our Keurig ??. For some reason, it was zapped to its death. Luckily, our anniversary is coming up in a few weeks and we decided on this delightful new addition. It’s a splurge, but if you’re a coffee lover – five full stars from us. Now if I start pumping out more on the blog, you’ll know the real credit goes to the cappuccino.

And since we’ve never made real coffee before, it seems only right to celebrate with these handmade espresso mugs ?.

Let’s put an end to doomscrolling, shall we?! My manager sent this to us in his weekly email and I couldn’t wait to share with you. 5 ways to cut back & regain control of your joy!

I started doing a digital cleanse and found this 2014 gem whilst deleting items from my bookmarks tab. It lives another day because the reminders are just that good.

Are you starting to think about Halloween decor? Apparently, we’re going to start seeing this as the trend of the season.

Did you spot the hummingbird in our cover shot? A joy trigger for sure. Thank you for making this a happy place I look forward to spending time on each day. It is a bright, sunny spot for us in the midst of chaos, and that is thanks to your kind comments, and wonderful support!
