Sunday Scrolls: January 30th

How are you feeling as we close out January? As optimistic as the start of the year? Maybe more so as we have one bone-chilling month down and just a few more to go before spring. We hope this weekend is restorative and joyful, and you find something in Scrolls today to make you smile, and bring new inspiration for the week ahead! Today’s smoothie is phenomenal for reducing inflammation (it also happens to be scrumptious), and we have a TON of incredible finds and recommendations we can’t wait to share:

Making.

This has been our go-to smoothie bowl lately – it is absolutely LOADED with superfood boosters, and tastes incredible. PS – if you’re looking for smoothie ingredient inspo, we have you covered. Here are all of our favorites in one place!

And if you loved the taste of the strawberries and cream oatmeal packets when you were a kid – you have to try this smoothie – oh MY is it yummy!! (A great one for kids, too, since it has sneaky veggies you can’t taste!)

Watching.

This true story was such a beautiful representation of bravery, friendship, and loyalty. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did! Also, I never really got the hype about Benedict Cumberbatch until now. He is an outstanding actor – and can you believe he is Voldemort?!

Reading.

I was excited to open A Slow Fire Burning after thoroughly enjoying The Girl on the Train a while back (both by Paula Hawkins). If you’re not so great with the narrators switching back and forth and following along with five story lines, this whodunnit may not be for you. Usually I have a difficult time remembering too many characters when the point of view toggles back and forth (especially reading before bed after a long day). However, the second half really picked up and you start to piece together how you think it will end. The real test for me in one of these murder mysteries, is being absolutely convinced I know who did it – only to be pleasantly shocked with how the author tricks you in the final pages. 8.4/10 ⭐️

Listening.

This concept was new to me and I found out so many interesting nuggets throughout this conversation. The idea of optimism and positivity as encouraging and uplifting versus “toxic positivity”. PS – if you listen to podcasts, have you tried listening at a faster speed? I can’t do it with all of them, but when I want to get through something relatively quickly, 1.5x hits the spot!

Feeling.

Trying.

This matching baby blue sweatsuit is the coziest. It runs small so size up for your kiddos!

Half Baked Harvest just released her new cookbook 🤩. It looks incredible.

Long distance friendships are tough – going to try some of these ideas!

I went to the dermatologist this week and he recommended this every night over my retinoid.

13 Texts to Send to Someone Having A Bad Day.

Getting out of a dinner rut with these new sheet pan recipes!

Apparently this natural oil is as effective as minoxidil for hair growth (for men and women!) – I’ll be honest that the smell is pretty strong 😳 – but I’m two weeks in and loving it!

A swoon-worthy two-story Dallas closet & 5 tips to organize it!

Yes to these resolutions for gardeners. I have been wanting to set aside time for #6.

20 Morning Mantras to Start the Day Loving People (Instead of Judging or Ignoring Them). The BEST, most needed reminders!

According to this MD, we’re living in an attention crisis. Here’s how to fix it.

Grey is raising money for the American Heart Association – a cause very close to us as my Dad died from a heart attack, and my mom, myself, and my grandparents are living with heart issues. He (we!) would greatly appreciate your support – I know many of us are impacted by this – every donation big and small makes a massive difference!

Thank you for being here this week! We appreciate you, your time, your notes, your wonderful support – more than you could imagine. Thank you for making this space feel like a cozy living room where everyone is sitting around laughing after family dinner, telling stories and grateful to be together 🙏🏼💙. Have an extraordinary start to your week!

It's the end of an era for the Nixon Pack. Our sweet Chancellor (affectionately dubbed Boob by my Grandpa Darlin') passed away this week. I can't remember a time when we didn't have dogs. We adopted our first of five, Jolea, while we were dating in college, and...
