This week was a doozy. But one that filled my cup to the tippy top. Jon was gone on a work trip and I quickly realized that caring for our tornado toddler, three elderly pups, work, home, and everything in between was a lot. But after the first (very long) day, I found the joy in all of it. So many people do this single parent thing so beautifully, out of necessity (you are rockstars). And I relished the fact that I got to have so much one on one time with my little man. He is truly delightful. That said, we are so happy to have the triangle back together and looking forward to the week ahead! Here are some of our favorite finds we couldn’t wait to share:
Best Blog Post. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you taking time to read our posts. I enjoy this little corner and community more than you know. I also love devouring the blogs of friends and writers I’ve followed for quite some time. If you have a few extra minutes today – this post made me weep. Really. It was so powerful, so beautifully written, and I know you’ll feel the same about it.
Must-Listen Podcast. I switched up my podcasts on the way to preschool pickup each afternoon in order to get my mindset on point before the rest of the day with my little guy. This parenting expert has been such. a. game changer. in the way I view my role as his mama, and the way in which we parent. I cannot recommend her, and Unruffled, enough!
My Only Pair of Jeans. These are my favorite jeans of all time. I have tried every brand. I have been “influenced” to branch out and try newer, more expensive jeans, and I keep going back to these. If you’ve never tried them on, give it a go while they’re on sale. It’s like instant squat challenge results, without having to do the actual squats.
This Quote. “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours” ~Dolly Parton. And while I did not take part in the recent Dolly Parton challenge (loved this one from my OG fave country Queen), I love me some Dolly. It’s also a great reminder for one of my 2020 intentions. Finding simple ways to spread the joy. They don’t have to be these huge acts of kindness, it can be as simple as a smile when someone needs it the most.
Self Care Sunday. My winter skin has been thirsty of late, and I was not about to let those fine lines creep any deeper. Something a dermatologist told me is if you are noticing more lines than usual all of a sudden, it’s likely dehydration – and that is fixable! Upping your water and fluid intake (we add these to our water before the gym), getting more rest, and decreasing sugar consumption (send help!), can add instant moisture. He also advised I try hyaluronic acid in the morning (hello, glow!), and I’ve been dabbing this under my eyes and lips in the morning and before bed.
Home.
