The latest #NixonPack project is a living room overhaul for a bachelor looking to add some style to his space. His requests were simple – keep it masculine, and pepper in some personality. That was it. This is my favorite kind of client. He is so easy going and we have a blank canvas to work with. Well, sort of. His walls were freshly painted a few months back and he’d like us to use what’s there. It’s a grey-blue with green undertones and boy does it pop against the dark wood molding. When designing for a single client, you want to keep their style in mind, but also work to capture an imaginary guest as well. This helps friends and family to feel at home, too, and create an inviting, lived in and loved space.
We plan to lead with a masculine chorus, but slide in a few underlying feminine notes to really layer in some warmth. We’ll achieve that in the last phase of staging when we build our vignettes with hand-woven baskets, delicious candles, and cozy throws. For now, we thought we’d share a sneak peek of one of our mood boards. Think weathered leather, lush green velvet, and loved-up vintage pieces to bring it all together. True to our Nixon Pack design philosophy, we’ll be marrying old and new, and trying to capture the vibe of the room, and the guy in the armchair.
Stay tuned for before and afters coming soon!
