Monday Mood Board: Spring Planters

We’ve been doing approved short-distance strolls around the neighborhood (our city is under a shelter-in-place mandate), and I almost started crying when I saw one of our neighbors had their planters filled with colorful blooms. A little early given we just had snow last week? Sure. But my goodness was it a mood-booster, and a gesture of hope during this crazy season we’re in. Here are some of the trends we’re seeing for spring planting:

In years past, the monochrome look was trending for some time; sticking with one accent color, maybe two. This year looks like a celebration of color and boy are we here for it. On top of that, expect to see more height, whether in the form of pots, or little pop-ins like the birdhouses pictured above. And when it comes to planters, this season is about planters with personality. Hobnail is still in, as are painted pots (how fun are these?!), and if you’re looking for a quarantine project with the kids – this would make for a fun family DIY!

Not ready for plants just yet but craving some pizazz on your porch? This is a fantastic idea (and could be another do-it-yourself for our crafty community!).

I just realized that every single year (for the past 15!) we have gone with monochrome. THIS will be the year we go for full color. What about you? Let’s plan it out together – share your vision in the comments below!
