Part of the Pack: Holly Conti on Friendship & New Year’s Intentions

By Kaylea

Have you ever heard that old adage that goes something along the lines of, “Show me your friends, I’ll tell you who you are”? Today on Part of the Pack, I’m introducing you to my best friend, Holly Conti. She is one of the most accepting, non-judgmental, empathetic, and kind humans I know. She’s my compass in life, my first phone call for just about every situation, and one of the sweetest souls you’ll meet. I fully believe that people come into your life for a reason, and this lady has changed mine for the better in more ways than I can count.

The reason I asked her to be a Part of the Pack today, is to share a ritual we have done every year since we met. Just before the New Year, we take inventory of the past 365 days, and make plans for what we hope to accomplish in the year ahead. We share our personal goals so that we can help one another achieve them, and remind each other of the intentions we set in case we get off course. It has been the most impactful way to set goals, support each other as friends, and also hold ourselves accountable. We’ve done this over the phone, through emails and google docs, and now, sharing this together over Zoom. Our hope is that this will inspire you to connect with an old friend who can serve as your “person” in the New Year!

Part of the Pack: Holly Conti on Friendship and New Year’s Intentions

2021 Intentions

I love that when I asked Holly what her word is for 2021, she chose “audacity”. It felt like she was looking at 2020 and saying, I see what you threw my way, and not only can I handle it, I am ready to be bold and take big risks in the New Year.

Audacity – a willingness to take bold risks.

Oxford dictionary

For me, if I had to choose one word for 2021, it would be eudaemonia -the act of human flourishment. This is something I want to truly hone in on in the year ahead. Staying present to find simple joy triggers throughout the day, working to stay healthy, and helping myself and those around me seek all roads to happiness.

Eudaemonia -a contented state of being happy, healthy and prosperous.
