#NixonPack Nice List: January 3rd

There were so many good finds this week I had a hard time narrowing it down! Sometimes I include lusts on this list, sometimes musts, sometimes it’s a sneaky way to (not so subtly) share something with Jon that he’s not overly excited about. We’re having a wee bit of a, let’s call it, meeting of the minds about number 2. What do you guys think? Would love to hear your opinion in the comments below!

Slippers. Are these the pair? I’m not sure. In fact, I think we’re going to buy a whole bunch so people can take their pick. But the point is, there’s been a lot of traffic at the #NixonPack residence and people are getting a wee bit comfortable not taking off their shoes. So let’s imagine a woven African basket by the front door showcasing a cozy selection of slippers. A gentle nod in the direction of, please remove your salt covered shoes, right?

Dahlias on the wall. Or the ceiling. We’re working on the ins and outs and hows right now, but I am really loving this print for the living room ceiling. When I say *we’re* working on the details, I mean Jon. Because I’ve already done my part of coming up with the idea and sourcing materials. But apparently, ceilings are really tough to paper, yada yada, ours has texture on it, yada yada, and also its vaulted, yada yada. More details and how-to to come.

Rainbow Room. We’ve seen a whole lotta white in the Im going for that farmhouse look design world for a pretty long stretch, and now, it’s all about showcasing color. We’ll touch on it more in a future post, but, especially in the kitchen, we are *loving* pops of color. What about a collection of vintage glasses with an ombre effect? (If you’re local to CNY be sure to check out Curator of Cool’s amazing selection!) Or cake stands in varying tones of your chosen accent color? Yasss.

Growlers. I asked Jon for any contributions he would like to make to this week’s list and this is what he came up with. Apparently, he’s been lusting after it like I look at a new pair of fabulous pumps I will not splash out for, yet still sit in my virtual shopping cart. Could be a good gift idea for the beer aficionado in your life.

Old school mood boards. I had one of these in high school, and I’ve had one for every house we were planning thereafter. But somehow on this house I thought I needed to be all techie and have everything on my laptop. I’m still old school with dog-earing pages in magazines, cutting out quotes to put in my purse for bad days…why did I stray? Pinterest has so many fun ideas to create one and I think I’ll take a little inspo from here and there and craft my own. If you’re looking for ways to get creative and inspired in the New Year, try this with me! It’d be a great addition to your home office, bedroom, mudroom, or even your closet!

Have something you think should be featured on next week’s #NiceList! We’d love to hear! Send us a note, or please share in the comments below!
